Men's skier Alberto Tomba (Italy) loses control in the Super G within the first ten seconds of his run; wins the gold in the giant slalom with a time of 1:02.46; and wins another gold medal in the slalom with a time of 47.85. Women's downhill skier Karen Percy (Canada) takes the bronze with a time of 1:26.62; Marina Kiehl (West Germany) takes the gold with a time of 1:25.86; Brigitte Oertli (Switzerland) takes the silver with a time of 1:26.61; Edith Thys (USA) finishes with a time of 1:28.53. Women's slalom skier Schneider (Switzerland) takes the gold with a time of 47.88. Pairs figure skaters Yekaterina Gordeeva (USSR) and Sergei Grinkov (USSR) win the gold; Jill Watson (USA) and Peter Oppegard (USA) win the bronze. Jamaican 2-man bobsled team came in 30 out of 41 sleds; Jamaican 4-man bobsled team provides a bit of a scare due to their crash in their third run; 4-man USA bobsled team was in first until East Germany knocked them out; 4-man Switzerland bobsled team took it from East Germany; Soviet Union finishes with the bronze knocking the USA team out of a medal. Brother and sister pairs figure skaters Isabelle Duchesnay (France) and Paul Duchesnay (France) perform their routine.
