GOLDEN GIRLS, THE: LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO MARINARA (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about four older women -- two widows, and a divorcée and her mother -- who share a home in Miami and help each other to cope with growing older and being single again.

In this episode, Sophia happily reveals that she and her gentleman caller Tony won a dance contest. Sophia's sister Angela then arrives from Sicily, saying that she is on vacation; she cooks dinner for them all, though Rose contributes a strange Viking dessert. When she mentions that most of the rest of their family is dead, Dorothy suggests that she should move to Miami and live in their home, much to Sophia's annoyance. Three weeks in, Rose is still caring for Count Bessie and Sophia is frustrated with her sister's presence, claiming that she always takes her things. Rose is devastated and frets about breaking the news to her friend; Blanche and Dorothy attempt to comfort her. Angela announces that she has found a new place to live, and Sophia attempts to call a truce between them. She then learns that Angela's new roommate is none other than Tony. Rose attempts to find another chicken with musical talent to replace Count Bessie, and Blanche comments on the rivalry between sisters. Meanwhile, Sophia begins to suspect that Tony and Angela are fooling around behind her back. When she goes to their home to confront them, she learns that they are not involved—but Tony does indeed have another girlfriend, prompting both sisters to gang up on him.
