WHO'S THE BOSS?: ANGELA GETS FIRED {SEASON THREE PREMIERE} {PART 1 OF 2} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of comedies about advertising executive Angela Bower and her live-in housekeeper -- former pro-baseball player Tony Micelli -- and their respective families. Angela is going away to Mexico for vacation and tries to get her business affairs in order beforehand. She is having second thoughts about going, but Tony encourages her to relax and take her first vacation in years. She tries to back out at the last minute in order to supervise a presentation for an extremely important account, but Tony gets her to go by physically carrying her out the door, much to her resentment. During the vacation Angela keeps trying to surreptitiously do her paperwork without alerting Tony. He soon discovers the deception and is not pleased. He manages to coax her into forgetting her work and having fun. However, she keeps going back to the hotel to take calls from her office. Tony tries again to take Angela’s mind off of her work, and she manages to enjoy the Mexican scenery with him. However, back at her office the presentation fails utterly, cutting Angela’s agency out of a multi-million dollar account. While Angela tries to forget her worries and go dancing, Tony receives a call from her office informing her of the botched presentation, but he misinterprets the message and purposefully does not inform her of it so as not to disturb her. They eventually return from Mexico, and Angela has a change of priorities, noting that “my job is not my life.” She even contemplates building a swimming pool in her backyard. However, her new outlook sours when she hears a voice message from the chairman of her agency’s board, asking her to attend an emergency board meeting. Angela, realizing that she is in trouble, nervously heads out, but Tony manages to get her to calm down. When she arrives, Angela gets a chilly reception from the other board members, who blame her for the loss of the account. Tony feels guilty about not passing along the message to Angela. Angela returns home and announces that she was fired in retaliation for asserting herself and mocking the board members. Commercials deleted.
