BULLWINKLE SHOW, THE: UPSIDAISIUM {EP. 69, 70} (TV)

Summary

One in this animated series about two friends – a gormless moose named Bullwinkle and an intelligent flying squirrel named Rocky -- and their frequent encounters with their arch enemies, Soviet spies Boris Badenov and Natasha. Rocky, Bullwinkle, Boris, and Natasha continue to look for Mount Flatten. Rocky eventually discovers its location: floating high above their heads, suspended miles above the ground due to its high concentration of upsidaisium ore. With the mine in sight, Boris and Natasha plot to rid themselves of Rocky and Bullwinkle by tricking them into falling into a deep well. Bullwinkle falls for the trick and Rocky dives in after him. However, Boris and Natasha realize that without Rocky and Bullwinkle, they have no way of getting up to Mount Flatten, and so they try to rescue them. Rocky manages to break Bullwinkle's fall, barely saving the both of them. Boris and Natasha throw down a rope, and this time Rocky is able to fly up to Mount Flatten and lower a rope ladder to allow everyone else to climb up there. As Rocky and Bullwinkle search for the upsidaisium mine, Boris and Natasha realize that they no longer have any use for Rocky, and Boris tries to push a huge boulder off a cliff to crush Rocky. Also includes the "Fractured Fairy Tales" story "Snow White, Inc." A beautiful and evil queen is told by her mirror that Snow White is the fairest maiden in the land, and the queen decides to poison her with an apple from her witchcraft supply store. She finds Snow White working for the Consolidated Dwarf company, a job placement facility for dwarves. Snow White accepts the apple and falls into a state of sleeping death. However, the queen learns that her mirror interpreted the term "fairest" in a literal sense, denoting Snow White's refusal to lie or cheat. Furthermore, with Snow White unconscious her company's stock has plummeted, and the queen is distraught due to being one of its major stockholders. She swears off of witchcraft and determines that the only way to free Snow White is to find a charming prince to kiss her. After negotiating price with the prince, she brings him to Snow White's home to kiss her. Unbeknownst to her, Snow White is feigning unconsciousness and is working in tandem with the prince to scam money out of the queen. Snow White "awakens" and the queen, happy, returns home. However, Snow White passes out for real when she learns that the prince spent all of their newfound money on a business deal: buying stock in the now-defunct witchcraft supply store. In "Peabody's Improbable History," Peabody and Sherman travel to the Palace of Versailles in France in the year 1788 to meet King Louis XVI. However, they learn from Marie Antoinette that the king has been missing for a week. Eventually they track him down to a cell in the Bastille; he explains that he was mistaken for a prisoner by the guards and locked up. Peabody and Sherman free him by taking jobs as prison chefs, and then tricking the guards into expanding the food slot on the king's cell door, allowing him to escape and return to the palace. Other highlights include: a "Mr. Know-it-All" segment on how to avoid falling asleep on the job; and a "The World of Commander McBragg" story about his adventures in the North Pole. Commercials deleted. This is the first of two programs on this asset. (The "Bullwinkle Show" "Upsidaisium" series continues on ACCNUM 108917).
