LUCY SHOW, THE: VIV VISITS LUCY (TV)
Summary

Vivian is visiting Lucy for the first time in a year, and both of them are overjoyed to see each other again. Since the last time they saw each other, Vivian has remarried, apparently happily. Lucy brings Viv into work with her, but her presence soon distracts her and drives Mr. Mooney to leave. Their talk turns to the subject of a local boy from Danfield named Herbie Walton who moved out to California to go to college; Vivian remarks how he has become a hippie and spends all his time on Sunset Strip. Lucy convinces Vivian to accompany her there in order to straighten Herbie out.
Clad in colorful disguises, Lucy and Viv venture into Sunset Strip, where they are appalled by the clothing and mannerisms of the local hippies. After asking around they find out that Herbie, going by the name “Itchy,” will arrive soon. In the meantime, they wait for him at a local dance club. They make an effort to blend in, with varying results. Finally “Itchy” arrives and performs a piece expressing his distaste for his small-town origins, much to Lucy and Vivian’s shock. They sit down with him and reveal their identities, chiding him for his attitude. However, “Itchy” reveals that he is actually undercover, in order to conduct research for his psychology thesis. The episode ends as the police arrive to arrest Lucy and Viv for violating curfew. Commercials deleted.
