HULLABALOO {GEORGE MAHARIS; DIONNE WARWICK} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of musical/variety programs spotlighting pop music performers. This episode begins with the Hullabaloo dancers performing the opening number, and the guest stars are introduced. Host George Maharis takes the stage and sings “Teach Me Tonight” and “Something’s Gotta Give,” accompanied by the dancers. He then introduces The Animals, performing their new song “It’s My Life.” Dionne Warwick, fresh from a European tour, sings “Looking With My Eyes,” after which Maharis joins her for “Mohair Sam.” Gospel folk duo Joe and Eddie then sing “Walking Down the Line,” written by Bob Dylan. All of the evening’s performers then gather for a Dylan-themed medley, with Maharis singing “Like A Rolling Stone,” Joe and Eddie singing “All I Really Want To Do,” Warwick performing “Mr. Tambourine Man” with balletic accompaniment from the Hullabaloo dancers, The Animals harmonizing on “It Ain’t Me Babe,” and all of the singers convening for “Blowin’ in the Wind.”
Maharis then performs “World Without Sunshine” solo, and introduces the “Hulabaloo-a-Go-Go” segment, in which The Gentrys perform “Keep On Dancing.” Maharis then bids the audience good night and previews upcoming episodes and stars. Includes commercials.
