Sports commentators Keith Jackson and Brian Oldfield discuss the fifth round of the men's discus throw finals, explaining that Malcolm "Mac" Wilkins (USA) is currently in first place, followed by John Powell (USA) in second place and Wolfgang Schmidt (East Germany) in third.

Jane Frederick (USA) performs the high jump portion of the women's heptathlon competition; her scores are not shown.

Jay Silvester (USA) performs his fifth discus throw and achieves a distance of 203 feet, four inches. Wilkins' fifth throw is thrown out due to a foul.

McKay comments on the ongoing musical events at Fort Stewart, or The Old Fort.

Powell performs his sixth and final discus throw and achieves a distance of 210 feet, nine inches. Knut Hjeltnes (Norway) performs his final throw; his score is not shown. Schmidt performs his final throw and achieves a distance of 217 feet, eleven inches.

Wilkins performs his final throw and fails to break the world record with a distance of 217 feet. Siegfried Pachale (East Germany) performs his final throw; his score is not shown.

Malcolm "Mac" Wilkins is declared the gold medal winner with a distance of 221 feet, five inches. Wolfgang Schmidt (East Germany) wins the silver medal, and John Powell (USA) wins the bronze.

Sports commentators Chris Schenkel and Bill Steinklaus cover the equestrian eventing individual final, and Edmund "Tad" Coffin (USA) performs and achieves the twelve necessary jumps, thus securing the gold medal.

Painter Leroy Neiman continues working on his mural of the Games, adding Wilkins and other winners to the image.

Sports commentators Keith Jackson and O.J. Simpson cover the 800-meter men's track and field finals, first recapping the surprise win of David Wottle (USA) at the race at the 1972 Olympic Summer Games in Munich.

Sports commentator Marty Liquori interviews runner Rick Wohlhuter (USA) about his strategy and the effect of the absence of the African runners, whose home countries are boycotting the Games for political reasons.

Jackson discusses the various runners in the 800-meter race, and Alberto Juantorena (Cuba) wins the gold medal and sets a new world record with a time of 1:43.57. Ivo Van Damme (Belgium) wins the silver medal, and Rick Wohlhuter (USA) wins the bronze.

Jackson and Simpson cover the 400-meter men's hurdles track and field finals. They compare the running styles of Edwin Moses (USA) and Yevgeniy Gavrilenko (USSR).

Wilkins, Schmidt and Powell receive their medals for the discus throw in an official ceremony.

Edwin Moses (USA) wins the gold medal in the 800-meter hurdles race and sets a new world record with a time of 47.64. Michael Shine (USA) wins the silver medal, and Yevgeniy Gavrilenko (USSR) wins the bronze. Moses and Shine celebrate their wins with a victory lap around the track. Commercials deleted.
