NISSAN PATHFINDER: ROAD TO RIO SERIES/ROADS
{ADVERTISING AGE: BEST TELEVISION COMMERCIALS OF
THE YEAR, 1988}

Summary

In this commercial for Nissan Pathfinder, the vehicle is put to an unusual road test on a 35-day trip from Chicago to Rio de Janiero. The announcer explains that the Pathfinder had to handle some pretty rough roads while passing through Botatulan, Mexico. Apparently the engineers who built the road started out using asphalt, and then switched to bricks, cobblestones, and gravel. "When they ran out of gravel," he says, "they used dirt. They never ran out of dirt." Slogan (supered): "Nissan. Built for the human race and the road to Botatulan. To be continued . . ."
