INSECURE: GHOST-LIKE {THIRD SEASON FINALE} (TV)

Summary

The third season finale in this comedy-drama series about the romantic and social life of Los Angeles native and "awkward black girl" Issa Dee. In this episode, Issa struggles to organize a block party for her 30th birthday, and Lawrence's dad gives him some advice on love, pointing out that all worthwhile relationships take effort. Molly is assigned to be Taurean's co-counsel for an important new client as Issa attends a somewhat promising job interview, and when Nathan stops by Issa's apartment with birthday greetings, her loyal bestie shoos him away, not wanting him to cause emotional trouble. Molly then brings Issa to an outdoor screening of "The Last Dragon," where they are joined by Kelli and some celebratory champagne. Lawrence, also in attendance, is surprised to hear that his friend Chad has somehow gotten engaged to the woman to whom he was notoriously unfaithful, and Molly spots Jered with a guy — who turns out to be his brother, not a boyfriend — and his new girlfriend.

Issa befriends Tiffany's pal Condola, who organized the screening, and seeks her advice regarding the block party challenges. Later, she argues with Molly about preventing Nathan's visit, informing her friend that she has become overly negative and mistrustful. At work, Taurean moves on to another case and assures Molly that she can handle the new client on her own, and Molly reconsiders her views and ends up making amends with Andrew. Condola, who is divorced, goes out on a date with Lawrence, and Issa finally reconnects with Nathan, who apologizes for disappearing to Texas, admitting that he too has periods of feeling "down" and negative. Issa, unsure about a reconciliation, requests time to consider her feelings, and he assures her that he's back "for good."
