INSECURE: BROKEN AS FUCK {FIRST SEASON FINALE} (TV)
Summary
The first season finale in this comedy-drama series about the romantic and social life of Los Angeles native and "awkward black girl" Issa Dee. In this episode, in the aftermath of her affair with Daniel, Lawrence angrily rejects Issa as she desperate tries to repair their relationship. Molly too treats Issa coldly as they head off to Malibu to celebrate Kelli's birthday, and Lawrence vents his frustrations to Chad, feeling that Issa ignored his attempts to improve himself. Issa and her friends head out to a bar, where Molly meets and quickly beds a handsome young nobody, and Issa attempts to confide in Kelli about her breakup, though cannot bring herself to admit her infidelity. At a strip club, Lawrence's friends encourage him to get back into the dating world now that his long relationship with Issa is definitively over, and when Tiffany and Kelli point out that "New Molly" is not so different from the old version, Issa defends her friend, leading to an argument in which Tiffany reveals the truth of Issa's affair with Daniel.
Issa refuses to discuss the matter and is deeply relieved when Lawrence calls, agreeing that they should "talk." She immediately decides to head home and Molly offers to drive her, and the two patch up their disagreement as Issa confesses her wrongdoing and Molly agrees that she too needs to improve her personal life. Back at home, however, Issa finds that Lawrence has packed his things and left his keys behind, while elsewhere Lawrence enjoys his new "single life" with one of the strippers. Heartbroken, Issa seeks solace with a comforting Molly.
