EAST LOS HIGH: END OF AN ERA (TV)
Summary
One in this drama series about the lives of Latino teenagers at a fictional high school in East Lost Angeles.
Camila recounts in detail an incident in which Rogelio molested her, and Gina finally believes her account. The Bomb Squad puts on their performance for regionals. Camila confronts her mother, who is angry that Camila did not tell her about Rogelio abusing her earlier and suspects she may have fabricated it. Camila walks out, and Gina reveals that she researched Rogelio and found that his name appears on a list of registered sex offenders. The Bomb Squad is dissatisfied with their performance, and their names are not announced as winners. Ceci arrives at school the next day to speak to the team, but they are resentful towards her for her sudden disappearance. She apologizes for her absence and tries to explain, but they are frustrated with her and leave before she can say anything. Jacob talks to his father about his decision to go to Santa Fe with Maya; he believes that Jacob may be too hasty and is making the wrong decision, but says he is entitled to do so. Camila’s mother tries to speak to her about her father, apologizing for her earlier behavior.
Eddie posts fliers trying to raise money to help his mother with her medical bills, as she has diabetes but lacks medical insurance. He and Tiffany are throwing a pool party as a fundraiser. Gina and her mother confront Rogelio about her findings and have him arrested for violating his parole. Ceci says goodbye as Jacob and Maya prepare to leave for Santa Fe, thanking Jacob for being a good friend. She goes to the high school to pick up her last paycheck and apologizes for failing to deliver on her promise. As she packs up her things, the dance team arrives and apologizes for yelling at her, having found out about what happened to her. They inform her that they sold their bridesmaid dresses and give her the money they got as a gift. Everyone starts crying, and Ceci assures them that she’ll still be around and will see them soon.
One week later, Jacob waits for Maya to arrive and take him to the airport in a taxi. His father wishes him well and assures him that he will be all right. Eddie and Tiffany host their pool party, and Ceci and Isela arrive as guests. At the last minute, Jacob decides that he cannot go to Santa Fe, believing that he cannot abandon his home in East Los Angeles. Maya is saddened at Jacob’s decision, and she realizes that he is essentially breaking up with her. At the pool party, Tiffany inadvertently gives Ceci the idea to turn the Bomb Squad into a co-ed dance troupe.
