EAST LOS HIGH: LA VIRGEN DE EAST LOS HIGH {SEASON THREE PREMIERE} (TV)

Summary

One in this drama series about the lives of Latino teenagers at a fictional high school in East Lost Angeles.

Ceci accepts Pedro’s marriage proposal. Camila turns to self-harm to help her deal with her father, while Jocelyn tries to help her. Her mother comes home furious at Gina; no one knows her father’s whereabouts. Nicolas is browbeaten into making more drug deliveries. One month later, Ceci shops for a wedding dress and is excited about the upcoming wedding. Nicolas purchases a new television set for his grandparents, but Jocelyn criticizes him for his ill-gotten gains. Ceci warns the Bomb Squad that if they fail to win at regionals she will be out of a job, but they are confident that they will succeed. Rogelio tries to bond with Gina by buying her a car, but Camila still wants nothing to do with him. He swears that he is sober and will attempt to be a better father to them; he tells Gina that he is moving back to Los Angeles. Camila stays with Jocelyn in order to avoid her father, revealing to Gina that she was sexually abused by him for years. However, Gina does not believe her.

Jocelyn continues to try to give Camila emotional support. Jacob tells Ceci that Maya is returning from Santa Fe the next day. Camila finds her father waiting outside of the school in his van for Gina, and she accuses him of intending to abuse her the same way he used to do to her. She threatens to kill him if he does so. She goes to see Nicolas, but acts uncomfortably around him, making him suspicious; she abruptly leaves. Ceci coaches the Bomb Squad and compliments them on their progress. They show their appreciation by getting her a “coach” sweater as a gift. She leaves when Pedro calls her, and she claims to the team that he is sometimes “overprotective.” Later she explains to Jacob that she wants to invite him to the wedding, but Pedro will not let her. He understands and gives her an excuse preventing him from attending. Pedro arrives and introduces himself to Jacob before leaving with Ceci. Camil and Jocelyn prepare to attend Ceci’s bachelorette party while Nicolas is called upon to make a drug delivery to Las Vegas.

Ceci’s friends surprise her with her bachelorette party after being set up by her students. Camila and Jocelyn decide to leave the party early; Camila remarks that she appreciates their relationship and Jocelyn says she is waiting for Camila to come out of the closet. Pedro looks on at the party from hiding. Rogelio brings Gina back home that night after driving her around to look at colleges. Nicolas’s drug run is called off and he turns around to go home. Camila goes back to Jocelyn’s place and they drink tequila together, eventually transitioning into a romantic encounter. Ceci returns home from her party and finds Pedro waiting up for her. He informs her that he saw her at the party and becomes angry, striking her and accusing her of “whoring around.” Nicolas returns home and sees Camila and Jocelyn together, storming off. Pedro continues to attack Ceci until she threatens him with a kitchen knife, and she lunges forward to stab him.
