AMERICAN HORROR STORY: HOTEL: BATTLE ROYALE (TV)

Summary

One in this dramatic suspense series with revolving storylines.

Liz and Iris ambush The Countess and shoot her, also accidentally hitting Donovan in the process. Donovan begs Iris to take him out of the hotel, frightened of dying there. She and Liz drag him out into the street and he dies moments later. Sally pulls the bullets out of The Countess’s body with her bare hands. She admits that she needs The Countess and makes her promise not to leave her. Sally recounts a period of time in her youth when she worked as a drug dealer. She recalls a time in 1993 when she was associated with a pair of grunge musicians who relied on her for drugs. They get a room at the Cortez in order to do heroin and have sex. While high, Sally sews herself to the two musicians, accidentally killing them both. In the present day she recounts that it took her five days to extricate herself from their corpses, three of which were spent being tortured by the Addiction Demon. She further explains that her true target is not The Countess, but that she hopes to lure John back to the hotel and kill him. In exchange, The Countess asks Sally to bring Donovan to her, as she needs to feed on his blood to survive. Sally informs The Countess that Donovan is dead, and she bursts into tears.

Meanwhile, John brings Scarlett and Holden home. Scarlett is suspicious, believing that John and Alex are trying to get her to drink blood and that they are not safe. They also ask her to keep what has happened to Holden secret. Sally brings a pair of twin children to The Countess, apparently her own, remarking that she is not recuperating as she usually does. Sally intends to drain their blood, but The Countess protests, unwilling to kill them. The children insist that they be permitted to “help” her and embrace her while Sally begins the process of draining their blood. Liz cremates Donovan’s body and brings the ashes to Iris. She pours out the ashes on her bed and speaks to them. The Countess recovers somewhat due to the infusion of blood provided by Sally. Iris emerges from her room covered in ash, and asks Hazel to vacuum up Donovan’s remains.

In desperation, Liz and Iris seek help from Ramona to kill The Countess. Approaching her room, they discover the hallway is strewn with the bodies of murder victims drained of blood. They discover that Ramona has already escaped and try to flee the scene. Ramona cuts them off and accuses them of working for The Countess in an attempt to kill her. Liz explains that their intention is the opposite, but Ramona is intent on feeding upon Iris as revenge for locking her away. They negotiate with her and agree to bring someone for her to murder in order to bring her back from the dead, and take the opportunity to target Queenie, who has come to Los Angeles to participate in a game show. Liz recognizes her from a news report about a coven of witches, and he and Iris believe that her magical blood may prove to be useful. They show her to her room, although Queenie is uneasy about the place. Ramona ambushes her in the bathroom and attempts to kill her, but Queenie’s magical powers ensure that any harm she does to Queenie is reflected back at her. A struggle ensues but is interrupted by James, who stabs Queenie and allows Ramona to feed on her; he explains that as a ghost, Queenie’s powers have no effect on him. James explains that he too has an interest in seeing The Countess dead.

John brings a victim home for Alex in his car, but neither she nor Scarlett are around. He returns to the hotel to search for them and encounters Sally. She claims that James is the one who took his family, although she assures him that they are safe. Newly invigorated, Ramona goes to face down The Countess. The Countess warns her that Ramona will not come out of their confrontation unscathed and offers her the hotel if she does not fight. Suddenly The Countess kisses Ramona and asks her to have sexual relations with her before killing her. After that, The Countess is ambushed by John, who shoots her several times. He beheads her and places it alongside his other trophies for James. Sally attempts to stab John but he avoids her attack and James restrains her, claiming that John still has a part to play in his plans. John merely wants to be reunited with his family. James welcomes The Countess, now a ghost, into his room, hoping to acclimate her to her new state of being. She remarks that she no longer feels “passion,” but James is happy that they are together again. He forgives her for turning him in to the police, but she says she did not do it. Hazel reveals that she was the one who did it, hoping that they would die together and spend eternity together. She begs for his favor but he throws her out, telling her that he never wants to see her again. Once she leaves, James and The Countess share a drink together. Commercials deleted.
