FRESH PRINCE OF BEL-AIR, THE: HI-HO SILVER (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about a Philadelphia teenager living with his wealthy uncle’s family in California.

The family grows impatient with Vivian’s interference in their lives in the wake of her quitting her job, although everyone puts on a façade to avoid confronting her about it. Even Uncle Phil agrees with Will that she “must be stopped.” Vivian hosts a dinner party that night and swiftly embarrasses Ashley and Hilary by insisting that they wear garish matching outfits. Famous actress Sonya Lamor arrives and Vivian introduces her to the family. Uncle Phil agrees to draft up a contract proposal on her behalf in order to get her memoir published. The next morning, Geoffrey discovers that Vivian’s heirloom silverware. Everyone splits up to search for it, and they come to the conclusion that it may have been stolen by one of the party guests. Meanwhile, Will and Carlton go to drop a cake off at Sonya’s place and are invited in. While Sonya is busy with a phone call, Carlton finds a fork on her table which he believes is part of Vivian’s missing silverware. Carlton intends to confront her, but Will advises against it to avoid jeopardizing the book contract. Instead, he decides to steal it back without Sonya noticing, and has Carlton distract her while he pilfers it.

They return home and discover that they were mistaken: Vivian’s silverware was accidentally taken by the caterers and has already been returned. They decide to break back into Sonya’s house in order to replace the silverware, and enlist the unwitting aid of Hilary in the task. Hilary takes Sonya out shopping while they enter her home. Hilary and Sonya linger about longer than expected, forcing Carlton and Will to hide to avoid their notice. Matters become further complicated when Uncle Phil arrives to drop off a copy of the book proposal, and Will and Carlton retreat under the kitchen table while they sit around and read it. They accidentally brush up against Uncle Phil’s and Sonya’s legs, causing each to believe that the other is coming on to them. Eventually Will and Carlton are discovered and explain everything to an irate Uncle Phil. A police officer arrives to investigate the break-in, and Carlton panics and accidentally strikes him.
