MODERN FAMILY: HALLOWEEN 3: AWESOMELAND (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series, a "mockumentary" about the eccentric individuals comprising three inter-related families in Los Angeles. In this episode, on Halloween, Cam dresses up with Lily as Mitchell nervously prepares for closing arguments in his latest case, stressed by the knowledge that he has lost the last three. Jay is annoyed to find that Gloria intends for him to dress up as Shrek to her Fiona and resolves to find something more flattering, and Phil eagerly prepares to transform the house into "Awesomeland," much to the chagrin of Claire, who prefers a scary Halloween over a whimsical one. Mitchell is taken aback when the court reporter arrives in a highly distracting costume, and Gloria finds herself in a romantic mood when Jay shows off his new Prince Charming costume, complete with wig. Claire recruits her children to help her get rid of Awesomeland when she learns that her annoying new neighbors Ronnie and Amber have arranged a "scariest-house" neighborhood contest, and Cam rushes to find a costume to match Lily's Waldo get-up when he learns that her school's parade has a theme.

A bewigged Jay begins to grow nostalgic for his own youthful locks, and Phil is horrified to see that his lighthearted playland has been transformed into "an insane asylum from Hell." Lily is disappointed when Cam admits that he cannot attend her after-school parade because of football practice, feeling that he has little time for her now that he is working, and Jay's costume is seemingly ruined when Stella makes off with the wig. Claire is embarrassed when Amber takes offense to the Dunphys' decorations, owing to her time spent in a real "cuckoo farm," and Mitch ends up losing his fourth case when he alienates the jury by criticizing the court reporter's outfit. In the newly-restored Awesomeland, Claire's children observes that she loves Halloween horror because it gives her an uncharacteristic "edge," and Jay begins to consider hair plugs as he takes Manny on his trick-or-treating "farewell tour." Gloria, however, firmly tells him that she is unconcerned by his baldness and simply wants him to enjoy the holiday. Mitch proves his talents as a lawyer once and for all when he skillfully smooths over the tension between Lily and Cameron, and Claire is outraged to learn that Amber lied about her dark past in order to win the contest. Later, Alex is disgusted by her parents' antics as Cameron once again finds himself stumped by Waldo. Includes commercials and promos.
