TRUE BLOOD: YOU SMELL LIKE DINNER (TV)

Summary

One in this drama series based on the “Southern Vampire Mysteries” book series by Charlaine Harris about the quirky residents of a small Louisiana town where a young woman – deemed a freak because she can read minds -- falls in love with a vampire.

In this episode, Timbo and Becky agree to untie Jason from the bed until Felton intervenes, waving a shotgun. Elsewhere, Sookie refuses to accept Eric as her landlord or the protector of her fairy blood. Sookie insists that she'll never be with him, nor can he replace Bill. Meanwhile, Bill finds out while seducing Katrina that the Wiccans have mastered necromancy. More bad news for the vampire community occurs across town as Pam, Jessica and Hoyt confront protesters outside Fangtasia, and Hoyt gets into a fight. Nearby, Sam flirts with Luna after they finish running through the woods in shapeshifter forms, but Luna disappears as Sam gets serious.

Later, Sookie goes to see Bill and begs him to make Eric return her deed. They part on angry terms, after which Bill flashes back to his days as a punk rocker in London of 1982. He recalls going to a bar and drinking the blood of bartender Callum before glamming him. He also remembers that Nan Flanagan then introduced herself, inquiring why Bill refuses to kill his prey and telling him how True Blood was about to go on the market as an alternative to human blood before encouraging him to become a spy within a group of bloodthirsty vampires.

The next day in Bon Temps, Arlene takes her newborn to Merlotte's with Terry. There, she lashes out at the baby after she believes he bloodied her eye, accusing the infant of being possessed by the spirit of Rene. Menacing words are also spoken at Crystal's compound, as Andy accuses Timbo of dealing V. Realizing that Andy has become an addict, Felton sends Luther out with a bottle of V for Andy. Andy claims that he'll keep the bottle as evidence before driving off. Crystal takes comfort in the fact that Jason's pleas for help weren't heard by Andy.

Tara returns from New Orleans and surprises Sookie at her house. Their reunion is interrupted when Sookie realizes that Eric has built a cubby in the basement. After calling Naomi to say that she'll return to New Orleans soon, Tara reluctantly agrees to attend a Wiccan meeting with Lafayette and Jesus. Meanwhile, Eric tells Bill that he won't give Sookie's house back to her. Bill then commands Eric to destroy the coven at the Moongoddess Emporium. When Eric makes fun of Bill's new status as king, Bill recalls how he squared off with Queen Sophie Anne before having her executed by his guards, after which Nan officially made him King of Louisiana.

Sookie and Pam exchange verbal barbs at Fangtasia as Sookie awaits Eric's return. Jessica also goes to Fangtasia after a nasty tiff with Hoyt about her vampiric powers. Jessica drinks a stranger's blood before running into Sookie in the ladies room. When Sookie reprimands her for cheating on Hoyt, Jessica takes her to task for causing pain to Bill. Meanwhile, Sam and Luna attend a shapeshifters' gathering with Emory and Suzanne. There, Luna reveals the secret of skinwalkers, and how they figured in her past. The meeting is interrupted as Sam recognizes an onlooker and chases him into the woods. Finding an incensed Tommy, Sam says that their brotherly bond will always be overshadowed by mutual distrust. Emotions also run high when Crystal and Felton reveal their plan to make Jason into a were-panther; both then revert to their animal shapes before attacking him on the bed.

At the Wiccan meeting, Marnie suggests that she bring a corpse back to life, eliciting discomfort from Holly, Lafayette, Jesus, and Tara. Eric then makes his entrance into the coven's meeting room, telling Marnie that the witches must be disbanded. When she refuses, he bites her, then attacks Tara for intervening. Recovering her strength, Marnie casts a spell of amnesia on Eric. Driving back from Fangtasia, Sookie finds Eric wandering on the road and realizes that he doesn't recognize her. Instead, he moves menacingly toward her, attracted by the smell of her fairy blood.
