TOY STORY THAT TIME FORGOT (TV)

Summary

This made-for-television animated special continues the story of Woody, Buzz and the rest of their toy friends from the Disney/Pixar films of the same name. In this Christmas-themed installment, Bonnie creates an elaborate scenario for her toys, though Trixie is disappointed when Bonnie again does not place her in an appropriate dinosaur-ish role. Bonnie then heads for a playdate with her friend Mason, though the two kids are quickly distracted by video games and the toys find themselves in Mason's enormous "Battlesaurs" set. Mason's dinosaur toys surround the "outlanders," and Trixie is immediately smitten with stalwart warrior Reptillus Maximus. The leader of the "tribe," known as The Cleric, orders the newcomers suited up for battle, and Trixie and Rex are both thrilled to be outfitted with impressive armor. Trixie is awed by Reptillus' description of his people's battle-scarred history and refusal to "surrender," though when he takes her to "the arena of woe" for a fight, Woody, Buzz and the others quickly realize that the Battlesaurs have never been played with, thanks to Mason's video-game obsession, and therefore do not realize that they are toys.

Trixie is shocked by Reptillus' "bullying" behavior in the arena, and when she tries to defend Woody and Buzz, The Cleric spots the "mark of obedience" -- Bonnie's name -- on Trixie's foot and declares that she is a traitor. Rex, still wearing the mechanical armor, is forced to attack his friends, and Trixie rushes off to find Bonnie to save them. Reptillus experiences an existential crisis when he spots the box in which he came, and Woody and Buzz figure out that the Cleric is a "tyrant" who intentionally keeps his fellow toys in ignorance to maintain his status as leader. The Cleric orders them thrown into "the pit," and Bonnie recruits Reptillus' help in shutting down the kids' video game, assuring him that he can be more than a warrior and should be happy to play whatever "role" his child chooses. Realizing that there is honor in "surrender" after all, Reptillus turns off the television, and Mason and Bonnie turn to their toys instead, saving Woody and Buzz just in time as they incorporate all of the toys into a lighthearted, non-battle game. Back at home, the toys tell their friends about the rewarding experience, and Trixie declares that she is glad to play any and every role that Bonnie creates. At Mason's house, Reptillus waits longingly for his next encounter with Trixie. Includes commercials and promos.
