HOT L BALTIMORE: THE RENT INCREASE (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about the colorful residents of the rundown Hotel Baltimore in Maryland.

In this episode, George and Gordon argue about the death and "funeral" of their beloved parakeet, while elsewhere Clifford pleads with Mr. Horn, the new manager, not to evict the residents despite the fact that they are all significantly behind on their rent. Unaware of the trouble, the gang prepares to surprise Clifford with a birthday party, grateful that he has promised to fight the rent increase for them. Grumpy Mr. Morse refuses to chip in for Clifford's present, and Mrs. Bellotti happily tells the others that her "nutty" son Moose is excited for the festivities. Clifford arrives and is touched by their gesture, but Mr. Horn then barges in and announces that everyone has been evicted. The residents are furious at Clifford's apparent betrayal.

As Clifford desperately attempts to contact his mother at the "fat farm" to remedy the situation, some of the residents begin packing, sure that Clifford cannot fix things. Suzy declares that they should honor their rebellious American forefathers and fight back. They all then chain themselves to the building as Charles provides tips on civil disobedience. Clifford is shocked by their actions and warns them that they could be arrested. Mr. Horn soon arrives with a court order and two marshals. Clifford then opens his birthday gift and realizes that he and the residents are family, and he finally summons his "titanic" anger and fires Mr. Horn. Suzy and April successfully "distract" the marshals from arresting them, and the residents soon regroup to toast their victory as well as Clifford's birthday. Includes commercials and promos.
