PARKERS, THE: SINCE I LOST MY BABY (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about a mother and daughter attending college together.

Nikki learns that Professor Oglevee has broken up with Veronica, much to her excitement. She believes that this represents a prime opportunity to woo him, and is so confident that she throws a party to celebrate his potential “elopement” with her. Professor Oglevee is not yet in attendance, but Nikki stole his wallet in an attempt to lure him there. He retrieves his wallet, and Nikki finds that he has already found another girlfriend, Dr. Angela Allen. She becomes intensely jealous and Andell is forced to restrain her to keep from physically harming Angela as she leaves with Professor Oglevee. After the party Kim, Stevie, and Andell comfort Nikki, who weeps profusely over losing Professor Oglevee. Suddenly Veronica arrives, furthering Nikki’s distress. They are both displeased with Professor Oglevee, and Veronica proposes that they work together to determine how to get him to break up with Angela. Nikki indicates that she still has distaste for Veronica, but nevertheless agrees to cooperate with her.

They hide in the foliage outside of Professor Oglevee’s house to observe their scheme in action; they have planted a negligee in his house in an attempt to get Angela to believe that he is cheating on her. They spy on Professor Oglevee and Angela making out; she finds the negligee but assumes that it is a gift from Professor Oglevee and continues making out with him. Professor Oglevee spots them in the bushes and indicates that he thanks them for inadvertently helping him. Nikki hires Woody as a private detective, and he discovers that Angela’s ex works at a Hollywood nightclub. Nikki takes Veronica and Andell with her to investigate further, and discover that the ex in question is a woman named Chris, and that they are in a lesbian nightclub. Chris reveals that she broke up with Angela when she “went over to the other side,” and while waiting at the bar they are hit on by a trio of club-goers, making them uncomfortable. Nikki and Veronica pose as a lesbian couple as a means of deterring attention. They are unable to convince Chris to get back together with Angela, but she leaves Veronica her phone number as part of an attempt to hit on her.

Nikki and Veronica lure Professor Oglevee into meeting them at Kim’s apartment. They tell him that Angela is a homosexual, but he believes that they are lying. They try another plan by forging a note from Chris to Angela, luring her to the nightclub, hoping to draw Professor Oglevee there as well. The plan goes awry when Angela and Chris get into a heated argument. Nikki confronts Angela and reveals that she is responsible for the note, getting Angela to admit that she is still in love with Chris and urging her to give her another chance. Professor Oglevee arrives and is displeased to see Nikki and Veronica yet again. However, he believes them when he sees Angela and Chris together, he leaves feeling depressed and humiliated. Nikki feels bad for what she has done and goes to apologize to him. However, she finds that Professor Oglevee has gotten back together with Veronica, and finds her in his apartment with him. Veronica convinced Professor Oglevee that Nikki pressured her into cooperating in her scheme. Nikki becomes furious and leaves, but not before throwing a pie in Professor Oglevee’s face.
