THAT'S SO RAVEN: THE FOUR ACES {SEASON THREE FINALE} (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about a teenager with precognitive abilities and her friends.

Raven, Chelsea, and Eddie volunteer to help out at a retirement home, although Raven is less than enthusiastic about the prospect. The senior citizen she is assigned to is Rhonnie Wilcox, who proves to be crotchety and abrasive, shouting at Raven to go away. However, Raven cajoles Rhonnie into letting her in, although she orders Raven to do nothing but sit quietly while she reads. They continue to argue at each other, but Raven gets Rhonnie to consent to letting her do her nails. Meanwhile, it is Cory’s “three month anniversary” with Cindy, and he asks Madison for a critique on the gift he purchased for her. She makes fun of him, and he goes back to Stanley with a complaint. Stanley produces a pair of “three-month anniversary rings” from a suitcase serving as his “inventory” for Cory. Raven returns to see Rhonnie again, and the other seniors are surprised that Rhonnie is allowing her back in. Raven learns that Rhonnie was once a notable jazz singer, but that she gave up singing and became a recluse after her husband died. Rhonnie emerges from her room and Raven convinces her to accompany her out to lunch at her father’s restaurant.

At the restaurant, Rhonnie is greeted by Mr. Baxter, who expresses his admiration for her. However, Rhonnie suddenly leaves when she learns the restaurant’s address, expressing regret that she left her room. Raven, confused, offers to help her back but Rhonnie insists on being alone. Raven ponders with Chelsea and Eddie about how to help Rhonnie, and at that moment receives a vision that she believes comes from the past instead of the future. She sees Rhonnie being introduced at a jazz club called The Four Aces, and her father reveals that the Four Aces used to operate at the location where the restaurant now stands. Stanley continues to scam Cory, asking exorbitant prices for a “ring remover” solution when the ring he sold him gets stuck and discolors his skin. Raven goes to apologize to Rhonnie, who notes that she has “wonderful memories” associated with the Four Aces; she explains that her father owned the club and she took great pleasure in seeing famous jazz acts perform there, but that she never got to sing there herself, as her father had to sell the club when she was a little girl. Raven is briefly confused about the context of her vision, but realizes that she has the opportunity to make it a reality. She gets Rhonnie to dress up and brings her back to the restaurant, redone for that night as the Four Aces, affording Rhonnie the chance to live out her lifelong dream.

Stanley ends up making Cory look good for Cindy, expressing Cory’s desire to get the perfect anniversary present and apologizing for his swindling behavior. During the evening, Raven has her father introduce Rhonnie to perform a number for the assembled crowd. However, Rhonnie declines the opportunity when presented, feeling too nervous to perform. Raven manages to convince her otherwise, and she gets up to perform with Raven, Chelsea, and Eddie. Rhonnie thanks Raven for everything she’s done for her. Commercials deleted.
