NURSE JACKIE: SISTERHOOD (TV)
Summary
One in this drama series about a drug-addicted nurse in New York City who's beset by personal and professional problems.
Jackie signs herself up for an eyelift procedure but feels uneasy about it. It is implied she went in so that she could obtain a prescription for painkillers. Dr. Roman and Thor practice for their television segment. Jackie tells Zoey that she is going to Kevin and Mia’s wedding at Fiona’s insistence and gives Zoey her letter of recommendation for her master’s program. Zoey is overjoyed at the contents of the letter. Jackie is called upon to assist Helen, who is severely injured after intentionally stepping in front of a speeding taxi cab. Given her injuries and medical history, Jackie confides in Gloria that Helen is unlikely to survive. Gloria tells Jackie about the DEA’s investigation into the hospital, and notes her suspicions surrounding Jackie, vowing to find “Nancy Wood” first. Helen expresses her gratitude to Jackie for all she’s done for her, calling her an “angel.” Zoey offers to stay with Helen that night while Jackie attends the wedding. Dr. Roman asks Dr. Cooper to introduce her to his lesbian parents, but Dr. Cooper doesn’t feel comfortable doing so.
Jackie drops her dress off with Eddie and says Gloria believes she had something to do with the DEA investigation surrounding Dr. Roman. Zoey reports that Helen’s heartbeat is irregular and she has been fading in and out of consciousness. Jackie gathers together all of the female ER staff around Helen as a show of solidarity, but Dr. Roman can’t help but speak up, discussing her longtime antipathy for nuns. Helen says she no longer wishes to be called that, as it is her “religious name;” she reveals that her real name is Nancy Wood, much to everyone’s surprise. Dr. Roman yells at Helen before Gloria drags her off. Jackie confronts Gloria in the bathroom, and Gloria apologizes for casting her suspicions on Jackie. Once Gloria leaves, Jackie takes the opportunity to get high in the bathroom. She causes a minor crisis by administering the wrong dosage of insulin to a diabetic, causing her to pass out. Zoey acts quickly and revives the woman. In private Zoey confronts Jackie about this incident and believes that she may be abusing drugs again, but Jackie claims she is simply on edge due to Kevin getting married.
Dr. Roman and Thor film their segment, and Dr. Cooper becomes uneasy when she refers to him as her “boyfriend” on-camera. Jackie arrives at the wedding and Fiona, acting as a flower girl, asks Jackie to accompany her down the aisle. Jackie reluctantly agrees and hurriedly returns to her seat, creating something of an awkward scene. At the reception, Grace and Tommy notice Gabe at the party dancing with Jackie, much to their surprise. Grace immediately calls Zoey about this. Dr. Cooper tells Dr. Roman that he has arranged for her to meet his mothers, and she asks him not to be mad, as she only wanted to “be comfortable and move fast” with him. She goes to see Helen, but Zoey informs her that she died only a minute beforehand. Zoey goes through Helen’s personal effects and finds her driver’s license, pausing to stare at it for a moment. She hands it over to Dr. Roman so she can give it to Gloria and clear up the DEA investigation. Kevin and Mia come over and Jackie introduces them to Gabe. They have a short, awkward conversation before Kevin and Mia leave, and Grace confronts Jackie, accusing Gabe of selling her friend drugs at a party. Jackie is furious at Gabe, unaware that he sold drugs to teenagers. She tells him to leave immediately and they get into a loud argument and she shoves him into a table, causing a disturbance. Kevin tells him to leave and he does so, and Kevin also asks Jackie to leave. Jackie departs without a word. Zoey visits Gloria in her office, asking to talk to her about Jackie.
