BEWITCHED: SISTERS AT HEART (TV)
Summary
One in this series of comedies about a mortal man who marries a witch. Elizabeth Montgomery introduces this special holiday episode and explains that it was written with the help of a tenth-grade English class from Thomas Jefferson High School in California.
As Christmas approaches, Tabitha prepares to have "an honorary sister" for a few days when her classmate Lisa Wilson comes to stay over while her parents are out of town. Samantha cautions her to avoid performing magic in front of her friend. Elsewhere, a new high-profile potential client, Mr. Brockway, sets up a meeting with Darrin but secretly plans to surprise him at home, wanting to be sure that there are no "skeletons in his closet" before hiring him. Samantha overhears Tabitha wondering if she and Lisa, who is black, can "really" be siblings. Mr. Brockway is stunned when Lisa answers the door and guesses that she is the housekeeper's child, but he quickly leaves when Lisa refers to Tabitha as her "sister." When Tabitha attempts to clean up their playtime mess with magic, she accidentally turns Lisa white and ends up confessing that she is a witch. She then briefly turns herself black and the girls agree that they would like to be "the same." However, they worry that their mothers will not know them if they transform into a different race.
Downstairs, Darrin frets to Samantha that Mr. Brockway has mysteriously changed his mind about the account, believing Darrin to be "not stable." They are both stunned when the girls reveal that they have become both "black and white" with polka dots. Samantha finds that Tabitha's "wishcraft" cannot be easily undone. Larry soon arrives and tells Darrin that he has arranged to have the office Christmas party moved to the Stephens home in order to win over the "curious" Mr. Brockway. Samantha hides the polka-dotted girls upstairs, but Lisa's parents, Dorothy and Keith, arrive unexpectedly during the party. Darrin hastily distracts them from seeing their daughter. Mr. Brockway arrives and awkwardly praises Darrin's "guts," and Darrin and Dorothy realize that he believes them to be in a mixed marriage. Samantha finally manages to change the girls back to normal after convincing them that they can still be "sisters" because of their affection for one another. Dorothy and Keith are merely amused by their daughter's claim that her best friend is a witch. Mr. Brockway agrees to rehire Darrin, but Larry boldly rejects his million-dollar offer, pointing out that he only changed his mind because of the racial confusion. Mr. Brockway is flustered when Samantha briefly causes him to see them – and himself – as black too. On Christmas morning, Mr. Brockway returns and humbly apologizes to the Stephens and the Wilsons, admitting that he is a "sneaky racist" but now wants to improve his views. Samantha invites him to join both families for dinner. Commercials deleted.
