LADY GAGA & THE MUPPETS HOLIDAY SPECTACULAR (TV)

Summary

This holiday-themed musical special features Lady Gaga and The Muppets with a variety of guests. Lady Gaga performs "Venus" from her new album "ARTPOP" with help from her Muppet friends, and Miss Piggy grows jealous when an excited Kristen Bell asks for Gaga's autograph. Kermit and Scooter hold "auditions" for the special, and a number of Muppets perform some oddball routines, including Pepe's "Prawns on Ice" dance. Lady Gaga performs "Applause," after which she is joined onstage by Elton John for "Gaga and the Jets," a reworded version of his 1974 hit, followed by "Artpop." After Gaga and the Muppets attempt to brainstorm an "indescribable" idea for the show's finale, Gaga performs "Manicure," and Animal, Beaker and the Swedish Chef perform a somewhat incomprehensible version of "Deck the Halls." Gaga and Kermit chat about the lonely experience of performing on the road during the holidays, and they sing "Gypsy" together. Joseph Gordon-Levitt joins Gaga for a gender-swapped version of "Baby, It's Cold Outside," and Bell attempts to teach Bobo the Bear to dance, with mixed results.

Miss Piggy grows increasingly envious as Kermit and Gaga continue chatting backstage, and RuPaul joins Gaga for a performance of "Fashion." Beaker, Animal and the Swedish Chef perform "Jingle Bells," and Miss Piggy decides that she wants to have "her moment" in the show and daydreams about a solo performance of "Santa Baby." She finally confronts Gaga and informs her that she and Kermit are "together," and Gaga realizes that "togetherness" is a perfect theme for the show's finale. She and all of the performance reprise "Applause," and the program closes with funny "outtakes" from the Muppets' scenes. Includes commercials and promos.
