GOLDBERGS, THE: WHO ARE YOU GOING TO TELEPHONE? (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about a dysfunctional Pennsylvania family in the 1980s.

In this episode, Adam eagerly dons his Rubik's Cube Halloween costume and is annoyed when Beverly tries to force him into a reflective safety vest. Pops, who usually takes Adam out trick-or-treating, is saddened when Adam rejects his "ghost-fellas" costume and opts to go out with his friends instead. Elsewhere, Barry prepares to attend a party as the Incredible Hulk. Erica, dressed as a strangely sexy version of Jane Goodall, informs her mother that her holiday fun will come in the form of the pretty and popular Lexy Bloom "crushing" Barry when he asks her out on a date, as he plans to do that evening. Adam is disappointed to find that his friends have outgrown Halloween and plan to spend the night causing costume-less mischief. Though Murray tries to intervene, Beverly rushes off to the teen party disguised as a ghost, determined to protect Barry from his imminent heartbreak.

Erica encourages her nervous brother to make his move as the ghostly "new kid" tries to advise Lexy to consider "passionate cuddle-bear" Barry. Murray shirks his candy-dispensing duties and tries to cheer up a disappointed Pops. He is furious when Adam and his friends end up egging the Goldberg house. Barry's attempts to flirt with Lexy end in disaster when he spills a drink on her and then realizes the true identity of the chatty ghost. Murray angrily grounds Adam and discovers too late that Beverly meddled in Barry's would-be romance. Erica comforts Barry, admitting that witnessing his humiliation wasn't much fun after all; they agree to work together to shield one another from their mother's crazy antics. Adam explains that he got roped into the egging when his friends decided to ditch trick-or-treating, and Murray concludes that Adam is at a "weird age" between childhood fun and teenage troublemaking. Adam ends up candy-hunting with fellow Ghostbuster Pops after all – joined by Ghost Bev – and Barry discovers the downside of his all-green costume. Includes commercials and promos.
