AMERICAN HORROR STORY: COVEN: BURN, WITCH, BURN (TV)

Summary

One in this dramatic suspense series with revolving storylines. In 1833 at a masquerade ball held on All Hallows Eve, Madame LaLaurie introduces her daughter Borquita to Jacques Roman, the son of Governor Andre Roman. She invites him to try out her “chamber of horrors,” where Jacques is horrified to find that it is filled with human body parts harvested by Madame LaLaurie from her slaves. Borquita, frustrated that her mother is driving away her potential suitors, plots with her sisters to kill her mother. In retaliation, Madame LaLaurie imprisons and tortures her daughters for a year’s time. In 2013, the Academy is overrun with zombies, trapping its occupants inside. At the bar, Fiona attempts to help Cordelia, reeling from the acid thrown on her face. She sees a hooded figure exit from the bar, and takes Cordelia to the hospital. The doctor tells Fiona that the attack has rendered Cordelia blind, causing her to fly into a brief rage. Zombies continue to surround the Academy and Zoe is unable to get in contact with Fiona. Luke believes this is an elaborate neighborhood prank and goes outside to confront the zombies just as Madame Laveau uses her magic to order them to attack, injuring Luke and killing a few hapless neighborhood teens. Zoe tries to lead the others upstairs to protect them from the zombies. Nan rushes outside to help Luke, and they manage to get into a car. In Cordelia’s hospital room, Fiona discovers she is out of pills and tries to raid the hospital medical supply room for more. She wanders the hospital corridors in a stupor, eventually coming across a woman sharing a room with her stillborn child. Fiona puts the child’s corpse in the woman’s arms, encouraging her to talk to it and express her love. Fiona somehow causes the child to come back to life before leaving the room. The zombies nearly seize Luke and Nan but Zoe runs out and attracts their attention, leading them on a chase around the grounds before taking shelter in a crypt. LaLaurie spies a zombified Borquita lurking outside the kitchen and invites her inside, feeling responsible for her present condition. Borquita attacks LaLaurie by strangling her. Upstairs, Spalding and Queenie are assaulted by Borquita, but LaLaurie saves her by impaling the zombie through the back, weeping over her “death.” Nan drags Luke to safety while Zoe emerges wielding a chainsaw and begins slicing up the zombie horde. She is nearly killed, but magically disables one of the zombies, which somehow harms Madame Laveau as well. Hank arrives at the hospital to see Cordelia, and Fiona takes the opportunity to berate and insult him. They argue until Fiona leaves him alone with Cordelia for a short time. He insists that he loves her and won’t abandon her, but when he touches her hand she somehow gets a vision of him having sex with Kaylee. In the morning, Fiona, Nan, and Zoe dispose of the zombie remains in a bonfire. Luke continues to recover from the attack, although they decide not to return him to his family yet. Fiona is called before the council, who do not approve of her recent actions. They call for her to relinquish her leadership of the coven, but Fiona sees this as nothing more than a power grab by Myrtle and accuses her of being the one who threw acid in Cordelia’s face. She also accuses her of being the culprit behind Madison Montgomery’s disappearance and using a false name to effect an attack on the coven from within. To prove her accusations, Fiona removes Myrtle’s glove, revealing burns on her hand similar to the acid burns on Cordelia’s face. The other council members have no choice but to kill her via burning. Myrtle accepts her punishment without resistance, and the whole coven goes out to burn her at the stake. Later, Queenie speaks to Fiona about the situation surrounding Myrtle; it turns out that Queenie used her abilities to put the acid burns on Myrtle’s hand in order to present the council with evidence of Fiona’s claims. Queenie feels guilty about her role in Myrtle’s death and doesn’t want to continue, but Fiona encourages her not to, implying that she may one day lead the coven herself. Spalding discovers Madison’s corpse in a trunk in the attic and accidentally tears off her arm. Misty visits Myrtle’s corpse as a pair of dogs feast upon it and brings her back to life.
