GEORGE LOPEZ: GEORGE'S GRAVE MISTAKE SENDS HIM TO A FUNERAL, HOLMES (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series, set in Los Angeles, in which comedian George Lopez plays family man "George Lopez." In this episode, George and Angie happily plan their trip to Hawaii, though Max is highly annoyed to be left behind. As George scrambles to hide the fact that he forgot to confirm the hotel reservation, Vic arrives and sadly tells Angie that her mother Emilina has unexpectedly died of a heart attack. George hastily cancels the trip and attempts to comfort his devastated wife, though Max admits that he does not feel truly sad, as he did not know his other grandmother well. Vic explains that Emilina's will placed Angie in charge of the funeral arrangements, and Benny, believing that George has reserved three cemetery plots for her, Angie and himself, carelessly gives up her spot so that Angie can be next to her mother.
George, however, admits to Ernie that he only bought two spots, and they hurry off to the funeral home to secure a third, but they learn that there are no availabilities adjacent to theirs and that buying three new places will cost a whopping $15,000. George tries to blame the cemetery for the mistake, but Angie quickly sees through the fib and blows up at him for "ruining" her mother's eternal rest. Ernie shows uncharacteristic insight as he guesses that Angie and her mother had "unexpressed emotions" between them at the time of her death, and when George asks, Angie tearfully admits that she fought with her mom during their last conversation, still angry at her for cheating on Vic. George assures her that a momentary argument did not define their relationship and gives her a book sent by Emilina some time ago, and Angie is touched by the heartfelt message inside. They decide to give the two plots to Emilina and Vic and find other spaces for themselves later on, and Angie decides to honor her mother by telling Max about his grandmother's life in great detail – much to Max's exasperation.
