MODERN FAMILY: VIRGIN TERRITORY (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series, a "mockumentary" about the eccentric individuals comprising three inter-related families in Los Angeles. In this episode, at brunch, Cam nags Claire about returning his Tupperware and Luke and Manny scheme to "bring Lily down," as she has taken their place as the youngest and cutest family member. Claire admits to "framing" her mother for an adolescent mistake, and they all begin sharing amusing fibs from the past, though Jay is genuinely upset when Mitch reveals that he faked Jay's legendary hole-in-one on the golf course many years ago. Manny and Luke set an elaborate "trap" for Lily, though it ends up injuring both Cam and Lily's doll instead. Phil, heading to the mall anyway, agrees to take the doll to the "hospital," but along the way he is shocked when Alex inadvertently reveals that Haley is no longer a virgin. Cam takes advantage of his so-called injury to search Claire's kitchen for his missing Tupperware and gets rid of Mitchell by suggesting that he must go "un-mar" Jay's fond memory of their father-son outing at the country club.
Gloria surprises Claire at her yoga class, though Claire suddenly decides to skip it, and though Jay decides that all of his golf buddies have told harmless ego-boosting lies, Mitch ruins his reputation by unwittingly revealing the faked hole-in-one in front of everyone. Luke urges Manny to take Cam's car for a joyride to impress a girl down the street, and though Phil seems upset that Lily's doll has "changed," he finally manages to tell Haley that he trusts her judgement, much to her relief. Gloria surprises Claire again and demands to know why she is being shunned, and Claire finally admits that she does not do yoga and instead spends her afternoons at a different kind of relaxing "sacred space": a shooting range. Mitch is annoyed to find that Jay cares more about the hole-in-one itself than about their day together, but Jay reveals that he has other specific memories of milestones in young Mitch's life. Manny and Luke conclude that Lily can be the cute one after all, as they are now "bad," and Cam finally finds the Tupperware, though injures himself for real in doing so. Later, Phil thanks Claire for hiding the truth about Haley's maturity from him, glad that he was able to stay in denial for a time. Includes commercials and promos.
