MIDDLE, THE: THANKSGIVING III (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about an "average" middle-aged wife in a small Indiana town who struggles with her husband, an often-frustrating job, and the raising of three children.

In this episode, as Thanksgiving approaches, the Hecks rush to Frankie's parents' house in a desperate attempt to secure the sole guest room – but find that Frankie's sister Janet has beaten them there. Sue is elated to be welcomed into the adult women's gossip circle and pawns little cousin Lucy off on an unamused Brick; elsewhere, Axl, distraught by his grandparents' lack of a working television, attempts to flirt with a convenience-store cashier during a marshmallow run and is roundly mocked by Mike for his lack of suave appeal.

Indulgent mom Janet is upset when the "competitive" Brick apparently leaves Lucy's beloved Mr. Bear out in the snow; Frankie is offended when her sister suggests that Brick is "special" and demands that she replace the $60 toy. Mike's attempts to teach Axl to flirt go disastrously wrong. As Janet and Frankie confide in their mother Pat, Brick decides to "investigate" Mr. Bear's strange demise. Grandpa Tag's romance advice is the worst of all, and Frankie and Janet finally squabble outright as Janet accuses her of being a "martyr"; Frankie argues that Janet cannot possibly understand her stressful life, as she has only one child. After an awkward dinner, Brick finally zeroes in on the true culprit, and when Janet and Frankie tearfully make up, Mike realizes that they are in for many more years of disastrous family Thanksgivings. Includes commercials and promos.
