DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES: SORRY GRATEFUL (TV)

Summary

One in this darkly comedic soap opera about the denizens of Wisteria Lane, a suburban neighborhood with a seedy underbelly that is thrust to the forefront after the suicide of one titular housewife. In this episode, Beth visits Felicia in prison and Felicia instructs her daughter to continue searching for evidence that Paul murdered Martha, advising her to use their new sexual relationship with her husband to her advantage. Gabrielle tricks Carlos into cooking a traditional Mexican meal for Thanksgiving with the Sanchezes, and when Renee invites Lynette over for the holiday, Lynette has to persuade her to include Susan as a guest, not as just "the help." Susan is distressed when Lynette begins "sleep-training" baby Paige by allowing her to cry unaided, and when Beth asks Paul point-blank about Martha's death, he heatedly reminds her that Felicia, whom he does not know to be his mother-in-law, is "crazy." Tom is flustered by a run-in with a nearly-nude Renee, and when Mary visits Bree to apologize for their disastrous dinner, Bree invites her and Richard to join them for Thanksgiving, unaware that Keith is preparing to propose.

Carlos, hard at work on the dinner, is annoyed when Gabby forgets about dessert, and Hector offers to drive her to the store. On the way, however, they are caught in traffic and Gabby urges him to drive in the emergency lane, leading to Hector's arrest. Renee sets up her "kids' table" outside, forbidding M.J. entry into the house, and Bree is embarrassed to find that she has forgotten that she extended an invitation to Roy and Mrs. McCluskey as well. Gabby and Carlos finally realizes that Hector and Carmen are undocumented when Carmen flies into a panic about her husband's arrest and prepares to flee with Grace, and Keith is upset when his parents begin squabbling at the dinner table and Mary, inspired by Bree's advice to "tell him how she feels," informs her husband that she wants a divorce. Beth confides to Paul that her unhappy mother refused to have traditional Thanksgivings during her childhood, and she comes to a meaningful realization about Felicia's "damaged" outlook.

With Porter and Preston absorbed in the football game, Susan sneaks into the Scavos' home and comforts a crying Paige. When Lynette catches her, she declares sleep-training to be the choice of "lazy moms" and, explaining that there already is "too much crying" in her household because of Mike's absence, quits her role as nanny. Renee spends time with Tom and concludes that she should have chosen a "kind and gentle" family man rather than marrying a succession of rich playboys, and Keith appears to reconsider his proposal to Bree in light of his parents' upsetting split. Beth visits Felicia again and admits that she now believes Paul to be innocent of Martha's murder, which sends her mother into a rage. Gabby and Carlos hire Bob Hunter to help the Sanchezes, but he explains that it is likely too late for Hector or Carmen to obtain citizenship. Grace, however, is an American citizen, and Gabby begins plotting to keep her biological daughter close to the family. Includes commercials and promos.
