DIRTY SEXY MONEY: THE BAD GUY {SERIES FINALE} (TV)
Summary
The final episode in this drama series about a troubled lawyer whose life is overtaken by his employers: a super-rich, morally-challenged family in New York City. In this episode, Nola stabs Simon with a letter opener, demanding to know her brother's whereabouts, and Simon finally admits that Justin is in Switzerland. Nick promises to save Simon's life if he swears to stay away from Karen and their unborn child, and he agrees. Later, Tripp and Nick question Nola, who claims that everything, including her becoming Patrick's chief-of-staff and her prosecution of Tish, was Simon's idea. She then prepares to head for Europe, sadly telling Jeremy that she does not intend to return and bidding him farewell. Tripp then informs Nick that Lisa is writing a tell-all book about the Darlings, and she refuses to waver when he confronts her at her gallery, saying that she intends to benefit from their divorce however she can. Patrick and Dana enjoy an afternoon in bed, and she is taken aback when he asks her to go on a real date with him, as their relationship has been purely physical so far. Patrick is uncomfortable when Skip questions him about Dana while at the gym and also dodges his questions about the biofuel, promising to discuss it later.
Tish visits Brian in his small "third-world" apartment, clearly displeased with his current lifestyle. Jeremy finds Nola again and proposes, but she gently refuses and asks him to "let her go." Nick assures Karen that Simon is indeed out of the picture, and she admits that she has grown to love her unborn baby. Nick demands answers from Simon, and Simon begins to tell him the story of how he met Nola in Shanghai while working on the biofuel project with her father, Shien, but is interrupted when his lung collapses from the stabbing. Jeremy visits and declares his hatred for Simon, though he is alarmed when Daphne "jokingly" urges him to finish him off with a shot of morphine. Skip spies on Dana and Patrick on their date, and Tripp tells Nick that part of Lisa's book has leaked and that he wants Rebecca to get involved, but Nick tells him that he wants to handle it personally. He returns to Simon for the rest of the story, and Simon admits that he stole full credit for the biofuel after arranging for Shien to be arrested for sedition, saying that he now regrets his actions. Daphne takes Jeremy to Vegas in an attempt to cheer him up, and Nick declares his intentions to Karen, telling her that he is finally sure that they should be together along with the baby, and she agrees that it is "about time." He is then annoyed to find Brian doing large-scale renovations on their apartment, however, and tells him to undo it.
Skip orders Patrick to stop seeing Dana, angered that they have developed genuine emotions for one another, and threatens him with some "insurance" photos of the couple together. Nick appears on a daytime talk show to defend the Darlings against the gossip in Lisa's book, but she is then brought out as a "surprise guest" and publicly reveals that Nick is seeing Karen. Simon tells Nick that he blackmailed Nola into prosecuting Tish by hiding Justin away at a "safe place" after Shien's arrest and promising to return her family to her only in exchange for her "help." Lisa then attempts to make up with Nick, urging him to remember their happy life together before he got involved with the Darlings, and Karen catches them kissing. She falls down the stairs as she leaves the scene and loses her baby, though Nick assures her that his feelings have not changed and suggests that they should have a child of their own. Dana tells Patrick that they could indeed possibly have a real relationship, and Patrick declares that she and Skip will soon have a "new arrangement." Nola finds Jeremy and confesses that she has changed her mind and wants to be with him after all, but he reveals that he impulsively married Daphne in Vegas. When Brian mentions that all the fancy new changes to the apartment were Tish's idea, Nick returns to Simon and asks why he chose to go after Tish rather than Tripp in order to destroy the family. Simon explains that Dutch found out about the stolen biofuel and forced him to go after Tish – meaning that Nick's father is actually still alive. Includes commercials and promos.
