MEDIUM: A PERSON OF INTEREST (TV)
Summary
One in this supernatural dramatic series inspired by the real-life story of research medium Allison DuBois, a wife and mother who struggles to make sense of her dreams and visions of death. In this episode, Allison meets with Detective Scanlon to examine a corpse which appears to have been beaten with a baseball bat. They then find that the man's identification is false and that his fingerprints have been removed. Before leaving the scene, Allison is drawn to a battered microwave. She spends the next six hours taking the machine apart, even as Joe tells her that he's invited new colleague David Brewer for dinner the following evening with his wife, Debbie. In a dream that night, Allison watches as teen-aged Arlo Slocombe is horrified to see that his father, Mitchell, has kidnapped prominent judge Heath Clemens and stashed him in the trunk of a car. As Mitchell slices Heath's neck, Allison wakes up startled. She subsequently tells Detective Scanlon that Mitchell is the man they found without fingerprints.
That night, Joe is alarmed to find that Allison has forgotten about dinner. Instead, she's been building a detonator in the garage and purchased multiple bags of fertilizer as an explosive agent. As David and Debbie arrive and give Allison a bottle of wine, she has visions of bomb victims. The next day, D.A. Devalos tells Allison that the corpse is confirmed to be Mitchell, who set off a fertilizer-based bomb beneath a courthouse, killing seventeen people, in 1985. After relating the development to Joe, Allison sees David outside the office. Noticing the burn mark on his hand, she has a vision of Mitchell burning Arlo's hand on a stove as punishment for having alerted authorities to Heath's corpse. Later, Allison tells Joe that she thinks David is actually Arlo, and that he may have killed Mitchell. David subsequently goes to police headquarters, where he admits to changing his name. Later, the press gets wind of his connection to Mitchell and turns David's life into a circus. The next day, Allison hears that a vagrant has been arrested for Mitchell's murder. After David tells Joe that he's leaving town, Allison has a vision that Arlo invented the fertilizer-based bomb, with the use of a microwave, and gave it to Mitchell. When Allison confronts David with her knowledge, he tells her that Arlo died with the seventeen victims. Before driving off with his family, David shakes Allison's hand, at which point she realizes that he'll always be haunted by the victims. Commercials deleted.
