JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE! {BRADLEY COOPER, COURTENEY COX, THE CURE} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of live late-night talk shows hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. This episode's guests include actress Courteney Cox, actor Bradley Cooper, and musical guest The Cure.
Uncle Frank and Guillermo open the program at Sears as they hunt for gifts for military service members and their families. In his opening monologue, Kimmel touches on the following topics, among others: the ice storms that have knocked out power in many East Coast cities; the now-famous footage of reporter Muntadhar al-Zaidi's shoe attack on President George W. Bush; Governor David Paterson's reaction to Fred Armisen's parody of him on "Saturday Night Live"; Madonna and Guy Ritchie's divorce proceedings; the ongoing economic recession; and last-minute do-it-yourself holiday gift ideas from "Kimmel" staffer Veatrice Rice.
Kimmel then introduces the nominees for the "2008 Clip of the Year," including antics from the Palin family and the "rematch" between reporter Matt Lauer and actor Tom Cruise. Next, military members at the Al Asad Air Force base in Iraq chat with Kimmel via satellite and offer holiday greetings to their loved ones, and they are then surprised with a variety of gifts from Sears.
Cox then takes the stage and chats about her four-and-a-half-year-old daughter Coco's excitement for Christmas; an unfortunate autocorrect incident involving Coco's kindly preschool teacher; the New Year's resolution of her husband, actor David Arquette, to "grow up in 2009"; her appearance on three episodes of the medical comedy "Scrubs," which recently moved to ABC from NBC; her new comedy show "Cougar Town" and why its title is slightly misleading; and her new role as Adam Sandler's sister in the kids' fantasy movie "Bedtime Stories" (2008), from which a clip is shown.
Next, Cooper discusses his awkward trip to Guantanamo Bay with the USO organization; his nervous reaction upon meeting President-Elect Barack Obama and First Lady-Elect Michelle Obama at a campaign event; and working with the funny and unpredictable Jim Carrey on their new film "Yes Man" (2008), from which a clip is shown.
Finally, The Cure performs "Freakshow" and "The Hungry Ghost" from their new album "4:13 Dream." Includes commercials and promos.
