MISTER ED: GEORGE BURNS MEETS MISTER ED (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about a talking horse.

In this episode, Wilbur is intrigued when Roger sees a newspaper ad from George Burns that promises $25,000 for a Las Vegas-based novelty act. Wilbur assumes that his talking horse would be perfect, but Ed has other ideas. Ed says that he won't "talk for money." After seeing Wilbur pleading with Ed, Roger tells Carol that she needs to pay more attention to her husband's needs.

Later, Wilbur tries to trick Ed into talking on stage, having read a book on animal psychology. But having read a book on human psychology, Ed outsmarts him. Wilbur then goes to see George, who doesn't believe that Wilbur has a talking horse. Though Wilbur gets Ed to chat with George on the phone, Ed quickly hangs up. George agrees to hear Wilbur's pitch again if Wilbur finds "a witness" to Ed's "talent." Wilbur thinks Roger would make a perfect candidate if he can get Ed to talk in his sleep.

That night, Wilbur attempts to make Ed doze off. Instead, he falls asleep and dreams of Ed graduating from Yale, winning a senate seat, and later becoming an Army major. Then, the dream turns to a nightmare as Ed is captured by enemy agents and faces a firing squad. When Wilbur wakes, he swears that he'll never endanger Ed by trying to cash in on his ability to speak. Commercials deleted.
