MENTALIST, THE: BLOODSHOT (TV)
Summary
One in this drama series about a private investigator with psychic skills who helps the police solve crimes. In this episode, Patrick pulls his car into the California Bureau of Investigation headquarters, quietly observing Grace in a romantic encounter with her new beau. Suddenly, Patrick gets a text about a nearby bomb. As the team seeks the explosive, Patrick finds a man tied up in a van with a bomb beside him. After the bomb goes off, Patrick is blinded by the explosion. At the hospital, Patrick is told that the blindness should only last about two days. In Sacramento, the victim's widow, Laurie Medina, answers questions from Kimball and Wayne about her husband, Jim. She says that a former co-worker, Terry Andrews, used to threaten Jim. Wayne and Teresa go to see Terry, who works as a club bouncer. The next day, Patrick reports to work, despite the fact that he can't see. There, Wayne interviews Terry about his whereabouts when Jim was murdered. After Patrick talks with Terry, he declares that the man is innocent. He then has Teresa take him to Lauri's home. There, he finds one of Jim's watches, triggering a memory of one of his encounters with a psychic client from the past, Carol Gentry. When the team wants to investigate Carol, Patrick tells them that Carol killed herself. However, Patrick then recalls an encounter with another psychic client, the spouse of one of Jim's associates, Jill Lamont. Patrick reflects on having told her of the infidelities of her husband, Paul. At Lynch-Halstead Brokerage Firm, Jim's former employer, Teresa and Kimball delve into Paul's work history, discovering that he was fired by Jim after his marriage fell apart. Back at the office, Wayne is introduced to Grace's boyfriend, Dan Hollenbeck, bringing Wayne's attraction to Grace to the surface. Once in private, Dan assaults Wayne and leaves him handcuffed. Dan subsequently seeks out Patrick. When Grace gets a call from Teresa, she learns that Paul has become a hopeless derelict and that Dan is his revenge-seeking son. Patrick quickly tells Grace that Dan is the bomber and that he's about to kill them. Dan shoots a guard as Grace and Patrick try to elude him. In the parking lot, the two try to escape in Grace's car, with the blind Patrick driving due to Dan having handcuffed Grace. As Dan takes aim to shoot them, Teresa arrives and kills Dan. Later, Grace rescues Wayne and the pair almost kiss. The following day, Patrick realizes that his vision has returned, much to Teresa's delight. Commercials deleted.
