I LOVE LUCY: LUCY BECOMES A SCULPTRESS (TV)
Summary
One in this series of comedies about the escapades of Lucy Ricardo, a zany redheaded housewife with show business aspirations, her Cuban-born bandleader husband Ricky Ricardo, and their best friends and neighbors Fred and Ethel Mertz. In this episode, Lucy finds a picture of her great-grandfather, an artist, and, believing that artistic talent runs in the family, convinces Ricky that she should study art so that she will be able to enhance her as-yet-unborn child's cultural appreciation. She enters an art supply store as an absolute beginner, but the conniving sales clerk and Mr. Abbot, the store's owner and a supposed art connoisseur, tell her that she possesses a nature talent for sculpting. After several failed attempts at producing a masterpiece, Lucy has a hard time convincing Ricky that she should continue with her art. Ricky makes a deal with her: If an art critic from a local paper declares that Lucy is a talented sculptress, then Ricky will continue to pay for her supplies. When Mr. Harvey of the New York Times arrives to critique her work, Lucy is nowhere to be found, but there is an incredibly life-like bust in the Ricardos' living room.
