Hidden Figures: Student Screening & Panel Discussion

Dec 10, 2016
12:00 PM ET
New York

The Paley Center for Media and 21st Century Fox proudly presented a special discussion about representations of STEM in the feature film Hidden Figures before an audience of New York City high school students. Based on the book by Margot Lee Shetterly, the film tells the previously untold story of three brilliant female mathematicians at NASA played by Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, and Janelle Monae, who helped win the space race while blazing a trail for equal rights.

The student audience had the opportunity to ask questions and gain more insight into not only the inspiring story behind the film, but how more diverse representations of STEM on screen may lead to more inclusive participation in STEM fields.
