Aug 13, 2014
6:00 PM Reception; 7:00pm ET Screening/Discussion
New York

6:00 pm Reception
7:00 pm Screening; Followed by a Panel Discussion

When the curtain rose on the Pamela Smart murder trial twenty-three years ago, reality TV was born. Accused of plotting the 1990 killing of her husband, the twenty-one-year-old Smart's trial was the first fully televised, gavel-to-gavel court case and has inspired TV shows, books, plays, and movies, including To Die For, starring Nicole Kidman and directed by Gus Van Sant. Featuring an intimate new interview with Smart herself, HBO’s Captivated: The Trials of Pamela Smart exposes the media's role in the case, showing how it may have influenced the trial and sentencing.

For PATRON supporters, if you wish to attend the program and private reception, please RSVP to Ina Clark at inaclark@paleycenter.org.
