Doug Herzog, President, MTV Networks Entertainment Group
12:30 – 2:00 PM
With such hits as The Real World, Unplugged, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and South Park to his credit, Doug Herzog has made an indelible mark on the entertainment landscape. As president of MTV Networks Entertainment Group, Herzog is charged with maximizing the growth and brand strength of cable networks and Internet sites across not only the traditional television terrain, but across the ever-increasing digital universe and its myriad technologies and delivery systems. This is the second go-around for Herzog, both within Viacom and overseeing Comedy Central, where he was president from 1995-1998 and rejoined the network in the same capacity in May 2004. In February 2005, Herzog added the additional role of president, Spike TV, and in January 2006, oversight of TV Land was added to his roster. In December 2006, he was named president of the newly formed Entertainment Group. Previously, he was president of USA Network from 2001-2004, and president of entertainment for Fox Broadcasting Company from 1998-2000. Herzog's original stint at MTV began in 1984, when he was hired as news director, music news, just three years after the cable network's formation. Over the next eleven years, he eventually rose to become executive vice president of programming and president of MTV Productions. Herzog is a graduate of Emerson College.
