Summary

In this special, hosted by disc jockey Murray the K (Murray Kaufman), performers donate their time and talents to educate teenagers about the function of the U.S. Office of Economic Opportunities. Highlights of this program include the following live and prerecorded performances from various locations: Martha and the Vandellas perform "Nowhere to Run"; Dionne Warwick sings "Walk on By" before a live audience; Herman's Hermits perform "Mrs. Brown You've Got a Lovely Daughter"; Marvin Gaye sings "Pride and Joy"; Fred Gwynne makes an appearance as Herman Munster while Cannibal and the Headhunters perform "Land of 1000 Dances"; Patti and the Bluebells sing "You'll Never Walk Alone" before a live audience; Little Anthony and the Imperials perform before a live audience; Tom Jones sings "It's Not Unusual"; the Ronettes perform "Be My Baby"; Johnny Mathis croons "Wild Is the Wind"; Chuck Jackson performs "I Don't Want to Cry" before a live audience; Mary Wells sings "My Guy"; Johnny Rivers performs "Seventh Son"; Bill Cosby talks about his experiences in shop class in junior high school, the intelligence of his classmates, his shop teacher, and the dropouts in his school; the Temptations sing "Way You Do the Things You Do"; Gary Lewis and the Playboys perform "Count Me In"; the Drifters sing "Up on the Roof"; the Supremes perform "Stop! In the Name of Love"; Murray the K talks about the Job Corps; The Miracles perform "Ooo Baby Baby" before a live audience; Dave Clark Five sing "I Like It Like That"; the Righteous Brothers perform "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" before a live audience; the Four Tops sing "Can't Help Myself"; and Ray Charles performs "What'd I Say" for a live audience. In between segments, Murray the K and other entertainers comment on the various opportunities provided by the U.S. Office of Economic Opportunities and appeal to employers to help youths find work.
