Summary
One in this series of comedy/variety programs with
rotating hosts. Program highlights include the
following: host Tallulah Bankhead and Bert Lahr trade
insults; the Ron Fletcher Dancers perform "I Feel a Song
Coming On"; Bankhead appears in a skit in which she is
stopped for speeding by a flirtatious French cop (played
by The Continental); Lahr and Bankhead sing "I'll Sing
No Duet"; Patsy Kelly and Phil Foster play a battling
married couple who are surprised when Phil's old friend
"Sloppy Selwin" turns out to be wealthy and handsome;
then Kelly and Foster sing "I Got News for You";
Bankhead recites "New York Day By Day" columnist O.O.
McIntyre's loving tribute to his late dog; the Ron
Fletcher Dancers and singer Bob Carroll perform a
production number to the song "Rachel"; in a skit Lahr
plays an artistic sign painter and Bankhead portrays his
wife; Dolores Martin sings "I'm Through with Love" and
"Necessity" (which she introduced on Broadway in
"Finian's Rainbow"); and Bankhead appears in a skit as
a wealthy woman desperately in need of domestic help
after her maid has quit. At the program's conclusion, a
United States Army Reserve sergeant presents Bankhead
with an award for the All-Star Revue's contribution to
national defense from the Reserve Officers' Association.
