Summary
One in this series of programs on people and issues in the political and cultural forefront. In this program, Moyers takes an in-depth look at Rosedale, a nearly all-white community of six thousand families in the borough of Queens, New York, which has, since the summer of 1974, been protesting against black families moving into the area. Moyers talks with the Spencers, a black family whose move to Rosedale has been greatly opposed, and members of R.O.A.R. (Return Our American Rights), a Rosedale real estate referral service dedicated to keeping Rosedale white. The program alternates between the black and white Rosedale factions, and includes footage of white demonstrations against the Spencers.
