ABC SATURDAY MYSTERY: COLUMBO: REST IN PEACE, MRS. COLUMBO (TV)
Summary
One in this series of police dramas in which Los Angeles homicide detective Lt. Columbo's unassuming manner masks his keen intelligence and sharp investigative abilities. In this episode (presented under the umbrella of "ABC Saturday Mystery"), Columbo's investigative skills are shown in flashbacks as mourners at his wife's funeral reflect on recent events. A vindictive widow, Vivian Dimitri, seeks revenge on those responsible for sending her late husband to jail, where he died of a heart attack two years before he would have been released. She blames his death on Columbo, who was in charge of the case, and her current boss, who had informed the police about her husband's illegal activities. Vivian carries out the "perfect murder" of the informant, and wants Columbo to suffer the loss of a spouse, as she did, before she ends his life as well. Columbo, however, is one step ahead of her.
