Summary
One in this dramatic anthology series. Filmed before a live audience, this television version of the stage play by John Guare features the Tony Award-winning Broadway cast. Artie Shaughnessy, an aspiring movie songwriter whose lyrics are as cliched as his impossible dreams. On the day of Pope Paul's visit to New York, Artie and his girlfriend, Bunny, make plan to get Artie a job in the Hollywood big-time by impressing his old friend Billy, now a famous movie director. In the course of one day, Artie must audition for Billy and his girlfriend, a deaf starlet; put his crazy wife, Bananas, in an institution; and confront three marauding nuns and his A.W.O.L. son who is bent on wreaking revenge by bombing the Pope.
