Summary
A paid political announcement with Orson Welles speaking on behalf of the Democratic candidate for President, incumbent President Franklin D. Roosevelt. At no point in the broadcast does Welles refer to Roosevelt by name; he relies instead on such expressions as "the Democratic candidate," "the great American war leader," and so on. Welles asks wavering supporters of Republican candidate Thomas Dewey -- whom he does name -- not to vote for him, charging that Dewey's tendency to agree with the views of each person to whom he speaks results in mutually contradictory statements and actions. After giving examples of such alleged contradictions, Welles praises Roosevelt's wartime leadership.
