CEILING UNLIMITED: WAR WORKERS (RADIO)

Summary

One in this series of informative patriotic dramas about aviation featuring Orson Welles and sponsored by the makers of Lockheed and Vega aircraft. In this drama, the FBI arrests a German spy who has posed as a Vega war worker in order to broadcast to Germany from the plant using a concealed microphone. Welles then takes the microphone to give German listeners (and American eavesdroppers) a tour of the Vega plant that focuses on the people who work there. Welles stresses that 75% are women; that people of different ages, races, and backgrounds work side by side; that certain important jobs are done by midgets and by the blind; and that this diversity would be unacceptable in the Axis countries.
