THIS IS MY BEST: THE DIAMOND AS BIG AS THE RITZ (RADIO)
Summary
One in this drama series hosted by Orson Welles. In this program, adapted from F. Scott Fitzgerald's short story "The Diamond as Big as the Ritz," John, the owner of Kizzy's hamburger stand, tells one of his regular customers about a man with "a diamond as big as the Ritz Hotel." In flashback, John and his co-pilot are forced to land their plane in an unknown area during a storm. They take refuge with a strange, wealthy family who claim that the mountain on their land conceals an enormous diamond. To ensure its secrecy, the family kills or imprisons all visitors. The co-pilot escapes, but John, in love with one of the daughters, stays behind. When the co-pilot returns with help, the father destroys the diamond. In closing, Welles talks about the following week's show. Includes commercials for Cresta Blanca wines.
