ADVENTURES OF THE THIRD MAN, THE: THE LIVES OF HARRY LIME: BUZZO GOSPEL (RADIO)
Summary
One in this series of lighthearted dramas that follows the adventures of con man Harry Lime, based on the film "The Third Man." Orson Welles, in character as Harry, introduces the program. In this comic episode, Harry tries to go straight and accepts a position as sales representative for Buzzo, a soft drink, on the Mediterranean island dictatorship of Malinia. The dictator, believing that Harry is a secret advisor to the U.S. president, and eager for U.S. economic aid, tries to impress Harry with his democratic tendencies by setting up a phony election -- his opposition and most of the voters are dead. Both the dictator's scheme and Harry's plans to get rich selling Buzzo backfire when the popular opposition candidate turns up. Commercials deleted. (This series was produced and syndicated by the BBC in the 1950s.)
