COLUMBIA WORKSHOP: TECHNICAL DEMONSTRATION;
CARTWHEEL (RADIO)

Summary

One in this series of radio programs which serves as a workshop for young writers, directors, and performers. This presentation consists of two parts. The first is a technical demonstration in which it is proven that people listening to a program on a short wave in New Zealand hear it before those listening West of Chicago on conventional equipment. Advances in the development of the microphone are also discussed. The second half of the program is a drama, "Cartwheel," which stresses economy of words and characterization. It has twenty-three scenes and thirty-four characters and takes place over a time span of fifty years -- all in fifteen minutes.
