Summary
One in this series devoted to commentary by Orson Welles on current events. In this program, Welles brings his listeners up to date on the Isaac Woodard case: the policeman who beat and blinded Woodard, a black veteran, is the Batesburg, SC, chief of police, and the beating occurred in Batesburg, not Aiken, SC, as previously reported. Welles reads and answers letters from an anonymous "former fan" who, angry at Welles's private investigation of the incident, says that Northerners should let Southerners handle their own racial problems. Welles's second topic is the need for liberals to have faith in the possibility of peace and to "stand fast against reactionaries" who would set the stage for another war.
