An Evening with Robert Redford

Dec 1, 2015
6:30 PM ET
New York

Robert Redford, one of the most widely admired film stars of his generation who received an Academy Award in 1981 for his directorial debut (Ordinary People), will talk with former Paley Center president and CEO Pat Mitchell. Among the topics to be covered are his early television career (including acclaimed roles in Playhouse 90: In the Presence of Mine Enemies and The Iceman Cometh); his famed Sundance Institute and the Sundance Film Festival, which are dedicated to the development of emerging screenwriters and directors—and to the national and worldwide exhibition of new independent cinema; his activism and the role of the media in spreading the word about land conservation, global warming, and other pressing issues; and the new feature film Truth, a political drama in which Redford stars as Dan Rather during the end of his tenure as anchor of the CBS Evening News.
